2023 “Good to Nature Rainforest Festival”:
Sharing China’s Rainforest Stories with the WorldOn the 7th World Rainforest Day, Good to Nature, as the first official Chinese partner of World Rainforest Day, launched the Good to Rainforest Festival, a large-scale art and environmental public welfare project, from June 21 to August 22. The festival “folded” the wonders of the tropical rainforest into the heart of the city, offering urban residents a direct and immersive experience of the rainforest. It aimed to raise public awareness of the importance of rainforests and encourage broader participation in ecological restoration and conservation efforts.
Through a series of diverse activities — including an immersive opening forum, rainforest storytelling cycling events, the “Folded Rainforest” light art exhibition, Global Rainforest Week, the Xishuangbanna Rainforest Restoration Study Camp, and the Future Rainforest Guardians Summer Urban Camp — the Good to Rainforest Festival successfully showcased the mysterious beauty of the rainforest to the public.
Light & Shadow Science and Art Exhibition
Good to Nature, in collaboration with the LIGHTHOUSE Digital Art Team, “folded” the rainforest into the historic Shikumen buildings of Jinchao Lane 8, Shanghai.
The exhibition featured giant exotic floral installations and rainforest wonders, enhanced with realistic animal sound effects to vividly recreate the pristine environment of a tropical rainforest.

Within this immersive space, visitors could observe a wide variety of rainforest plants, including parasitic flowers, amaryllis, purple banana, giant arum, and flame flowers, and learn about rainforest phenomena such as single-tree forests and buttress roots.
This audio-visual feast allowed audiences to feel as if they were truly inside a rainforest, experiencing the wonders and beauty of nature firsthand, while gaining a deeper appreciation of the rainforest’s biodiversity.Summer City Camp
Leveraging the Good to Rainforest Festival, Good to Nature launched a Summer Urban Camp aimed at engaging more urban youth in hands-on ecological restoration activities and giving them the opportunity to interact directly with rainforest experts from around the world to learn authentic rainforest knowledge.
During the camp, rainforest specialists from eight regions worldwide delivered educational lectures covering topics such as rainforest biodiversity, restoration stories and methods, and how local communities depend on and protect their rainforests. Students then applied their learning by guiding festival visitors through the Global Rainforest Week exhibition, sharing insights and knowledge about the world’s rainforests.
