“Future Rainforest Guardians: Xishuangbanna Ecological Restoration” Study Camp Successfully Concluded
From August 5 to August 10, 2023, students from cities joined Good to Nature on a journey into the Xishuangbanna rainforest, embarking on the “Endangered Species Rescue Challenge.” Using endangered animals as the starting point, participants engaged in group discussions and received guidance from scientists to design their own ecological corridor restoration plans.
Guided by experts from the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG), Chinese Academy of Sciences, students explored the real rainforest environment and visited active restoration sites, gaining hands-on experience in restoration methods. They also interacted closely with local residents, learning about the lifestyles, traditions, and cultural heritage of Xishuangbanna’s ethnic communities. Participants experienced the charm of local folk culture, the history of the ancient Tea-Horse Road, and even tried their hands at Pu’er tea-making.
Through this immersive experience, the students came to see the rainforest not as a distant, unfamiliar place, but as a shared treasure of humanity. This shift in perception left a lasting impression, inspiring them to contribute to ecological restoration and conservation efforts in the future.
